Union Institute for Christian Training
The Institute for Christian Training website provides free online resources, as well as information about a range of courses.
The Institute offers individual Christians and congregations opportunities to fulfil four key aspirations:
• Grow and mature spiritually
• Relate your faith to modern life
• Understand the Bible better
• Improving your interpersonal skills
Although our activities are primarily intended for members of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, our courses and resources are open to anyone who wishes to grow in his or her Christian faith and develop personal gifts and skills. While many of our activities take place at Union Theological College, we offer courses at other venues, usually in conjunction with local presbyteries and congregations.
Many of our courses are run in partnership with other agencies, from both within and outside the Presbyterian Church. Evening classes for youth workers and Sunday school teachers are offered through the Board of Youth and Children's Ministry. Counselling and listening courses are held in conjunction with Christian Guidelines and Acorn Ireland respectively. Evangelical Ministries assist with discipleship and Church Growth Seminars.
Correspondence Course:
The Discover Jesus course has been adapted as a correspondence course. Discover Jesus is a twelve-session programme for adults centred on the four Gospels and designed to promote Bible reading skills. The course enables participants to grasp the 'big picture' of each Gospel so that they may appreciate how the Gospels complement each other and provide a richer portrait of Jesus Christ.
