Sacraments
A sacrament is an outward sign that conveys an inward, spiritual grace through Jesus Christ. They are sometimes known as ordinances as they were ordained by Jesus Christ to be permanently observed by the church. They are holy signs and seals of the covenant of grace, instituted by God to represent Christ and His benefits and to confirm our interest in Him.
The sacraments administered in Fitzroy are Baptism and the Lord’s supper.
The sacraments are administered by a minister and involve visible and invisible components. The invisible component (manifested inwardly) is understood to be brought about by the action of the Holy Spirit, God's grace working in the sacrament's participants. The visible (or outward) component entails the use of such things as water, bread and wine signifying a visible difference between those that belong to the Church and the rest of the world.
The Lord’s Supper is observed on the first Sunday morning of each month and at other times during the course of the year.
Baptism is administered on request to the minister.
